On October 9th & 10th, 2004, Glenn Branca recorded SYMPHONY NO. 13
(Hallucination City) for 100 guitars at Kaufman Astoria Studios in New
York City. Thanks to all the musicians, Cantaloupe Records, Weasel, and
especially Glenn for writing an amazing piece of music. More information
will be posted here as soon as it is available.
THE ASCENSION will be re-released in the United States by Acute Records in late spring. Robert Longo had made two drawings for the original release of THE ASCENSION. This release will use the other or alternate drawing. There will also be new liner notes by Lee Ranaldo. The recording has been re-mastered by Weasel Walter (of FLYING LUTTENBACHERS fame).
Todd Hyman of Acute has decided to include a DVD track of a three minute solo performance by Branca from 1978 (from a film by John Rehberger).
Acute Records who
re-released the Ascension will reissue Lesson #1 this
month. The CD will also include Bad Smells and a film of the last
movement from Symphony #5.
released a live DVD of Symphony #'s 8+10 that they made
from the Kitchen performances in the mid nineties.
Glenn is finishing
up a piece for the Bang All-Stars " Compositional Recreations I
(Black 5 Vs. White 7 in 3 + 4 Time) ", and has signed
